The service aims to eradicate the indiscriminate dumping or fly-tipping of waste, which has in recent times become a persistent problem requiring investigation and enforcement. With the introduction of Landfill Tax and the associated increase in gate fees at licensed disposal facilities, financial benefits can be derived from the unscrupulous and illegal disposal of waste at unlicensed locations. Increasingly offences are found to be of a scale, which would indicate that they are commercially motivated and such cases are likely to require prosecution through the Courts.
