The Council is comprised of 19 elected representatives. Local elections are held every four years on a Proportional Representation system. The electoral areas represented are Antrim South East, Antrim North West and Antrim Town.
The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected annuallyat the AGM in June. Membership of Committees is also agreed at this Meeting and the offices of Chairman and Vice-Chairman are agreed at the first subsequent meeting of each Committee.
The Council has a range of direct responsibilities and in addition has a range of consultative and representative roles. Antrim Borough Council's Chief Executive is David McCammick who has overall responsibility for the organisation and work of the Council.
