Antrim Borough Council has shown its commitment to the future growth and development of its towns and villages by producing a Masterplan for Crumlin.
This non-statutory exercise aims to set out an appropriate framework for an integrated approach to ensure the future sustainable development of Crumlin.
The overarching aim of the Masterplan is to bring forward realistic proposals that will help achieve a vision for the physical, structural and economic regeneration of Crumlin in the context of local strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
Following a number of successful visioning workshops, a range of interesting ideas were put forward by local residents, students from Crumlin High and representatives from business and community organisations, to show what kind of place Crumlin could be in 2017.
Karen Brown, Antrim Borough Council's Development Manager explains, 'Antrim Borough Council wants local people to help shape the future of Crumlin by agreeing a shared vision of how it should look by 2017. By identifying a framework of achievable and realistic projects such as environmental improvements, strategic developments, key community infrastructure including youth facilities, improving the local shopping and services offer, improving parking and public transport, promoting facilities for visitors and boosting the evening economy, the Council hopes that new investment will be accelerated from both the public and private sectors'.
