Following the successful production of the recent Antrim Town Masterplan, Antrim Borough Council is in the process of preparing a similar development strategy for Randalstown.
This non-statutory exercise aims to set out an appropriate framework for an integrated approach to ensure the future sustainable development of Randalstown. The overarching aim of the Masterplan is to bring forward realistic proposals that will help achieve a vision for the physical, structural and economic regeneration of Randalstown in the context of local strengths, weaknesses opportunities and threats. A Masterplan for Randalstown is starting to take shape following two successful visioning workshops held recently in Neillsbrook Community Centre. A number of interesting ideas have been put forward by local residents, students from St Benedicts and representatives from businesses and community organisations, to show what kind of place Randalstown could be in 2017. Karen Brown, Antrim Borough Council's Development Manager explains, 'Antrim Borough Council wants local people to help shape the future of Randalstown by agreeing a shared vision of how it should look by 2017. By identifying a framework of achievable and realistic projects such as environmental improvements, new uses for prominent buildings, riverside development, priority housing sites, key community infrastructure including youth facilities, improving parking, promoting facilities for visitors and boosting the evening economy, the Council hopes that new investment will be accelerated from both the public and private sectors.' If you were unable to attend the consultation sessions but would like to comment you can contact Karen Brown directly on 9446 3113 Ext. 1344. or alternatively email karen.brown@antrim.gov.uk
