Antrim Borough Council has long since enjoyed a reputation as being top of the recycling rates league table within Northern Ireland and we continue to show our commitment by implementing an Environmental Management System compliant to ISO14001:2004 Standard.
As part of the EMS, the Council's Environmental Services Department has recently set out a new environmental vision for all services delivered by the Council in the form of its revised Environment Policy.
For Antrim Borough Council the new Environment Policy will:
a) Demonstrate its commitment to protecting and enhancing the quality of the environment, both locally and globally
b) Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and exceed requirements where possible
The Policy commits the Council to continual improvement and the prevention of pollution by reducing the environmental impacts that arise from its business activities and delivery of its services. By demonstrating the effectiveness of environmental management the Council aims to motivate others to improve their own environmental performance.
The Environment Policy is readily available to all staff, the public and other interested parties. It is also displayed at the Reception of tAntrim Civic Centre, 50 Stiles Way, Antrim.
