The present site seeks neither to extol the virtues of rebellion nor to extol the virtues of crushing a rebellion, but to explore history with respect for the truth we may learn.
Being conscious of the nature of the present work and of its medium of communication, the present writer has been mindful of words written in 1843 by one of our principal characters- James Hope:
- Jemmy Hope Volumes have been written recording the crimes of mankind, but the causes from which they spring is often overlooked.

If the historians would only state what they know to be the facts, truth would run in a freer channel from age to age.

From the extension of literature, the present age lies under a heavier responsibility than any other for the transmission of the truth to posterity.
