Sports Development

Sports Development at Antrim Borough Council aims to provide the community with programmes to help encourage and support anyone taking part in sport or simply trying to live an active lifestyle.  These programmes include:

  • Sporting Chance - Come and Have a Go. A three day scheme at Easter which offers 200 children in the Borough the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and 'have a go'.
  • Sporting Chance- Summer Skills and Performance. This scheme is a continuation of the Easter programme in that it focuses on the skills and performance of the sports that were introduced at Easter. These schemes run for 5 days from 10am- 1pm with details of opportunities to join clubs in the local area being provided at the end of each week to all participants.
  • Phoenix Sport. This after schools programme has proved invaluable in the development of youth sport in the Borough and its continuation will assist in producing highly skilled individuals. The Phoenix sport programme covers a wide range of sporting activities including Golf, Trampoline, Swimming, Soccer , Hockey, Gymnastics and now Badminton.
