Welcome to Antrim Borough Council's Lost & Alone section, where we aim to reunite lost dogs with their owners or find new homes for unwanted dogs which aren't claimed. Legally the Council is obliged to keep the dog for a period of 5 days, however so that the owners are given every opportunity to claim their dog the Council has extended this time to 7 days.
The dogs all 'board' at Council appointed kennels at Nutts Corner. They are cared for at the kennels for 7 days at a cost of £8 per day. If, after 7 days the dog has not been claimed, it is available for re-homing. If you see your dog on the website please contact the Borough Wardens at Antrim Borough Council and not the Boarding Kennels. Dogs can be collected from Nutts Corner Boarding Kennels during 9.30am to 12.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. On Saturday 9.30am to 11.30am. Closed on Sundays.
Under the Dogs (NI) Order 1983, Antrim Borough Council is permitted to charge a fee to anyone who amwould like to give one of these dogs a home. This fee is set at £20 and applies to all dogs regardless of breed or age. This money goes toward the cost of the care of the dogs while they are at the kennelling facility.
All the dogs need is someone to love and care for them. If you are interested in re-homing a dog, should one remain unclaimed after the 7 day period, please contact the Borough Warden, Paul Chapman T. 9446 3113 or E. Paul.chapman@Antrim.gov.uk quoting the appropriate reference number.
