Six Mile Water Guardians

Randalstown ViaductA Crane Enjoys a Stroll along the Six Mile WaterSalmon Leap Bridge

How would you like to become a guardian of the Six Mile Water River in Antrim?

By becoming a member of Six Mile Water Guardians, volunteers will have the opportunity get involved in a programme of training sessions and outdoor activities. They will learn how to identify and record our local birds, butterflies and mammals, or discover how to improve grasslands and woodlands for wildlife. We are also interested to hear from anyone who simply wishes to be an 'eyes and ears' along the river, by notifying us of any wildlife sightings, pollution incidences etc

The Six Mile Water river corridor is already an important haven for many species of plants and animals. Therefore, we are keen to have as many local people become a Guardian so that we can help ensure its future for other generations. It's also a great way to get out in the fresh air and enjoy some exercise.

All training sessions and activities will be free of charge and no previous experience or equipment is required. If you would like further information on the scheme, please contact either Ruth Wilson, Biodiversity Officer E. ruth.wilson@antrim.gov.uk or Elaine Upton, Countryside Recreation Officer E. elaine.upton@antrim.gov.uk
