Clotworthy was built in the 1840s as a coach house and stables for Antrim Castle. It was restored by Antrim Borough Council as an Arts Centre in 1993 and has become the Borough's premiere venue for the presentation of drama, music and visual arts. Set in the beautiful Antrim Castle Gardens, the first class facilities include art galleries, displaying work by local, national and international artists and a theatre with an extensive programme of musical and theatrical events. The venue also features a self-service coffee lounge, picnic tables, parking, disabled access and a loop system for those with hearing impairments. Meeting rooms and conference facilities are available for hire at competitive rates. The White Lady During a grand ball held at Antrim Castle on 28 October 1922 a fire swept through the castle destroying everything in its path. The towns’ people fought hard to save the castle but without success. Then to everyone's horror a figure was spotted at an upper window in the blazing castle. A servant, 22-year-old Miss Ethel Gilligan of Westmeath, was trapped in her room. A brave local man rescued her but the severely burned girl died of her injuries on the lawn below. Over the years her ghost has been seen dressed in white throughout the Castle Gardens, particularly by courting couples.
