In Association with Dunadry Hotel, Antrim Borough Council is delighted to be able to announce what promises to be a wonderful night of quality entertainment featuring one of Northern Ireland's biggest names from the world of music, Peter Corry, on Sunday 24 August 2008 at The Dunadry Hotel. With the Opera At The Castle event, which had become a summer fixture in Antrim Castle Gardens, not taking place this year, The Dunadry Hotel very kindly stepped into the breach and offered to assist with the promotion of an alternative outdoor event in the beautiful surroundings of their extensive gardens on the banks of the Six Mile Water. Music of the Night featuring Peter Corry will be an excellent opportunity to witness this renowned singer's astonishing talent that spans the great musicals, opera, rock, jazz and the haunting melodies of his native Isle. Among his numerous musicals, Peter starred for three years in the formidable role of Inspector Javert, which he made his own in the West End, and then the UK tour of the Schonberg and Boubil's hit, Les Miserables. Since then he has produced a diverse array of shows throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe. He also facilitates Masterclasses through which he passes on his wealth of experience in the music business to up and coming talent. In the last few years Peter has starred in his own shows for BBC NI TV and radio. He has appeared at the White House on St Patrick's Day, performed at the MGM in Las Vegas, and, memorably, sang at the funeral of Northern Ireland football legend, George Best. This coming autumn Peter will be embarking on an international tour of the acclaimed production, 'On Eagle's Wing'. Indeed, this production of the story, which details the journeys of the Scots-Irish to North America in the 18th century, will have local relevance, as Antrim Borough Council has offered support towards pre-production and rehearsals, which are planned for the Borough in September 2008. While the organisers are keen to promote a garden party atmosphere for this open-air event, patrons are unfortunately not permitted to bring their own food and refreshments this year. However, The Dunadry Hotel has entered into the spirit of the occasion by arranging a cocktail supper of strawberries and cream along with champagne (or alternative) included in the ticket price. Patrons may also wish to book a special pre-show dinner menu at discounted rates for those attending the event, which can be booked by contacting the hotel directly on 028 9443 4343. Tickets are now on sale at £17.50 / £15.00 concession from Clotworthy Arts Centre's Box Office on 028 9448 1338 or by Email clotworthyarts@antrim.gov.uk
