CREATIVE SPARK LIGHTS PARKHALL

Monday, 29 June 2009

A community arts project, driven by a collaborative group of 3 local Councils, is helping local communities look at different ways of commemorating the Twelfth of July.

In Antrim, Art of Regeneration has helped to form a partnership between local community groups in the Parkhall area, who have shown a willingness to look at alternative ways of celebrating their culture and making festivities more inclusive and environmentally friendly. This year instead of the traditional bonfire, a fire sculpture in the shape of a castle is to be erected culminating in a breathtaking flaming spectacle at Donegore Drive, Parkhall. Activities get underway at around 10pm on the evening of the 12th July.

The project is building on the successes of a series of pilot projects promoted across the 3 Council areas over the past 3 years.  Art of Regeneration is also working with groups from Castledawson, Magherafelt and Ballykeel, Ballymena. For more information on the project please contact Miriam Crozier, Tel 028 9448 1338 or email miriam.crozier@antrim.gov.uk
