A community arts project, driven by a collaborative group of 3 local Councils, is helping local communities look at different ways of commemorating the Twelfth of July.
In Antrim, Art of Regeneration has helped to form a partnership between local community groups in the Parkhall area, who have shown a willingness to look at alternative ways of celebrating their culture and making festivities more inclusive and environmentally friendly. This year instead of the traditional bonfire, a fire sculpture in the shape of a castle is to be erected culminating in a breathtaking flaming spectacle at Donegore Drive, Parkhall. Activities get underway at around 10pm on the evening of the 12th July.
The project is building on the successes of a series of pilot projects promoted across the 3 Council areas over the past 3 years. Art of Regeneration is also working with groups from Castledawson, Magherafelt and Ballykeel, Ballymena.
