Staff of new flagship store, ASDA at Junction One, are striding out for Macmillan Cancer Support by raising funds and taking part in this year’s Antrim Walk on Saturday 18 September at 10.30am.
Departing from Antrim Stadium, the annual charity walk will include two options, a 10 mile or a 6 mile walk, and will go through the spectacular Richardson’s Walled Garden at CAFRE’s Greemount Campus. Walkers will also have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Mill Race Trail, Six Mile Water River, Rea’s Wood and Lough Shore Park.
Daphne Claughan, ASDA’s Community Colleague is looking forward to the walk, “The Antrim Walk is not only a great way to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support but it’s a great way to enjoy the countryside around Antrim. I’m delighted that some of the staff from the store have decided to take part. It will be a great team day out. Everyone has been tremendously supportive and I would encourage anyone thinking about taking part to register and join us.”
Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Pam Lewis says, “I'm delighted the staff at ASDA have agreed to take part in the walk. It's a fantastic opportunity to get together with friends and family and enjoy a leisurely walk while supporting a very worthwhile charity. Registration is £10 per person and easy to do. Simply register online at www.macmillan.org/walking or pick up a registration form from any Antrim Borough Council facility.”
Maria McGleenon, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support explains, “All money raised will support the Macmillan Cancer Palliative Care Unit in the grounds of Antrim Area Hospital. This new unit will transform the way palliative care is delivered and will benefit not only those living in the Borough but throughout the whole Northern Board area. So, come along and get walking!”
