ENTERPRISE MINISTER COMMENDS ANTRIM BOROUGH

Monday, 06 February 2012

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Arlene Foster MLA, has commended Antrim Borough Council for organising a conference on the theme of innovation in business which took place at the Old Courthouse, Antrim, last Wednesday.  The Minister was the special guest speaker at the event, the first of its type in Northern Ireland, which attracted delegates from both the public and private sector.

Minister Foster told delegates, “Innovation is very important to the success and survival of business. There is a direct link between innovation and increased productivity and competitiveness. Antrim Borough Council is to be commended for holding this conference.”

Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Paul Michael commented, “It was very interesting to listen to our guests speakers, who included BBC’s David Meade, Adrian Gundy from the Centre for Competitiveness, Eugene McKeever from McKeever Hotels and Catherine O’Loan from Randox Laboratories Ltd.  It was inspiring to hear how they focus on encouraging people to be innovative and how it has improved business performance.”

Councillor Michael continued, “In these difficult, economic times we can all benefit greatly by looking at how we can be innovative in the services we deliver and in inspiring our people to be innovative. Antrim Borough Council has recently launched its new Corporate Plan for 2012-2016. It’s certainly a very ambitious plan and we are committed to implementing our new Mission Statement which states, We will be INNOVATIVE in all that we do to make sure that we achieve great things for everyone who lives, works, visits and invests here, now and in the future, and to make Antrim a Place for All.”
