If you go down to the Lough Shore Park on Sunday 26 August, between 2pm and 5 pm, you’ll be in for a big surprise! For that’s the day Antrim Borough Council is having its Teddy Bears’ Picnic!
Neil McCullough, Visitor Servicing Development Manager with Antrim Borough Council comments, “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic will be fun for all ages with a range of children’s entertainment taking place on the day. We’re delighted to welcome Bear & Co. who will be hosting workshops for children to make their own bears. The workshops will run from 2pm – 5pm and cost £9. Pre-booking is strongly recommended to make sure you don't miss out.”
Caroline Porter from Bear & Co. explains, “Our workshops are a unique, interactive cuddly, friend-making experience suitable for children of 3 years and over. Each participant creates a bear using pre-sewn bear skins. All the stuffing characteristics are provided to create the teddy bear. It’s then put in the special machine and the participant helps to stuff their new friend by stepping on a pedal. All the bears are then named, weighed and measured and special Birth Certificates are filled in. Each bear goes home in a bag.”
Bookings for the Bear & Co. Workshop bookings can be made by contacting Tracy Hefferon, Antrim Borough Council T. 9446 3113 (ext. 1342), E. tracy.hefferon@antrim.gov.uk. Alternatively, forms can be downloaded from www.antrim.gov.uk/teddybearspicnic
