You’ll be dancing in the aisles at the Old Courthouse on Friday 14 September at 7.30 pm as, by public demand, the Miami Showband makes a welcome return.
Antrim has many connections with the showband era, particularly the Miami Showband through local band member, Ray Millar. The band is considered to be the greatest exponent of the showbands which are still touring today. At the height of their popularity, thousands of adoring fans packed dance halls and concert venues across the United Kingdom, Ireland and the USA, until the tragic events of 31 July 1975.
In 2005 the surviving members, Des Lee, Stephen Travers, and Ray Millar, played a memorial concert in Dublin. They were subsequently joined by musicians Johnny Fean of Horslips, Gerry Brown who played with Dana, Barry Woods of The Real McCoy and The Miami Showband went back on the road.
Tickets are still available for the show on Friday 14 September at 7.30pm at £15/ £12 concession from the box office on 028 9446 3113 or online at www.antrim.gov.uk/oldcourthouse
