Antrim is celebrating in style this year, with a very exciting programme of events taking place during its annual Hallowe’enfest.
Karen Steele, Development Manager (Visitor Servicing) with Antrim Borough Council comments, “Making a chilling return to Junction One on Thursday 25 October is the 'Hallowe’en Spooktacular'. Between 6-8.30 pm there will be a whole evening of family entertainment including the popular Cool FM Radio Roadshow, Hallowe’en Grotto and Fire Jugglers. For the younger members of the family, there will be an opportunity to make Hallowe’en crafts, meet animals from Clementsmount Fun Farm and mingle with popular cartoon characters. The fancy dress competition will take place around 7pm at the roadshow and a fireworks extravaganza will conclude the event around 8pm.”
Karen continues, “The spooky goings on continue during ‘Howling Histories Week’ at the historic Antrim Castle Gardens and Clotworthy House from 22-27 October. The events have been organised in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Lady Marian’s Wolfhound Legend that evolved from events that took place on the shores of Lough Neagh in 1612 and the 90th anniversary of the fire that engulfed Antrim Castle. A wide range of family activities are on offer including workshops in mask making and terrible terrors make-up. Take the opportunity to join the local Irish Wolfhound Breeders’ Parade on Saturday 27th October at 4pm from Clotworthy House to the site of Antrim Castle.”
Other events to enjoy during the Hallowe’en period include the exhibition of Beastly Machines Kenetic Sculptures at Antrim Castle Gardens & Clotworthy House which is on display until 16 November and the Annual Concert and Ball at the Old Courthouse on Saturday 20 October. Also showing at the Old Courthouse is a screening of Headhunters on Monday 22 October and the One Man Star Wars Trilogy on Thursday 25 October at 7.30pm.
The Hallowe’en fun continues at Junction One over the Halloween weekend with a funfair and on mall entertainment. Free face painting for Halloween will also be available at Castle Mall on Wednesday 31 from 12 Noon – 4pm.
Make sure you don’t miss out on what promises to be another terrific Hallowe'en Fest!
